Editorial Standards
Our standards are built around one idea: report only what the primary source shows, and make it verifiable.
- Every direct quote must be an exact, machine-verified substring of the hearing transcript. Quotes that fail verification are never published.
- Numbers — vote tallies, dollar figures, bill numbers — get a dedicated verification pass.
- Speaker attribution below our confidence threshold is rendered as "a senator" or "a witness" — never guessed.
- A human editor reviews and approves every article before it is published. Nothing is auto-published.
- Every article links the hearing and full transcript it is based on.
- We do not publish syndicated, aggregated, or filler content. If our pipeline did not witness it, we do not report it.
When we fall short of these standards, we say so publicly — see our corrections policy and log.
